The Tail Of Despereaux by: Kate DiCamillo is about a young mouse who learns to be brave. First, Despereaux (the mouse) was born as the "odd one out". Second, Despereaux did many daring things including talking to a human (gasp!). He ends up in the dungeon to be eaten by rats as a punishment. When he escapes, he ends up saving the princess, Pea, from a terrible fate. In the end, Despereaux and the entire mouse community learn to get over their fears and be brave.
I really loved how Migory eventually found love and acceptance. It was a rough time for her in the beginning. Great Summary Maddi!
